Fascinating part of the sixties. My mum died in 2013 and she had the looks to match any 60′s showgirl. Reading about the Profumo Affair and other books just brings me into the life that my mum had when she a young adult in the 60′s.

Could I suggest Michael X as another strand in the Peter Rachman story?

You may have seen this, but there’s a British Pathé newsreel clip of dancers at Murray’s Cabaret Club in 1961, around the time that Christine and Mandy worked there. The narration is a bit nauseating, but typical for the times:

I put on an exhibition about George Wigg MP and his link to Profumo Scandal in 2003 at Dudley Library, which got to the dizzy heights of a news piece on Midlands Today and in various Midland newspapers. Once this exhibition had got going,, I started to have an on and off phone chat with Stephen Ward’s former friend Paul Mann, who was interested in what I was doing. It carried on during the 2 month of the exhibition and then I heard from him no more.

Paul was quite sympathetic to Ward’s predicament during the Profumo Scandal; felt he was hounded and wrongly marked by establishment, etc. I’ve read HONEY-TRAP by Summers and Dorril [brill book], as well as a few other books about Ward and the infamous Scandal over the years and have mixed views about him.

I think Ward brought a lot of his woes upon himself. I’ve been to Cliveden, in BUCKS, and have seen the lodge he lived in when he rented it off the Astors during the 1950′s/60’s.

I doubt the whole truth and nothing but the truth will ever out about Ward and he will remain a mystery man forever AMEN.
