The opera is called Powder Her Face (written by Thomas Ades) and does feature a scene with the aforementioned "incident" though the opera's main focus is on her ultimate demise as a result of her addiction. It basically commands all your attention.<br/><br/>You also wouldn't want to risk the chemicals coming in contact with your mouth, skin, etc. Having used the polaroid cameras typical of the 1950′s, it struck me early in the story that there had to be a third person present.

That should be poison (not poisoned) mustard gas, or perhaps simply mustard gas.
As written, it appears you are implying was made from “poisoned mustard”.
Mustard gas, chemically (BIS(2-chloroethyl) sulfide), is a synthesized chemical blistering agent named “Mustard gas” for it’s colour and aroma.
