I really enjoyed this nostalgic mind-trip back to more pleasant era until you just had to go & spoil it with that quite unwarranted & unplesant attack on Lionel Blair & that nice collection of well-dressed young men with him ( and why STILL no knighthood forthcoming one wonders...oh well perhaps this year ). One really sees far too few orange polyester dress shirts with frilled cuff detail these days.

Hi, For those of you who are interested in the period you can read a bit more about the people, politics and mood of the years 1967 — 1975 in 'Edward Heath Made Me Angry' ...

Hi Great stuff, thanks for putting this all together.
I'm equally fascinated by the "Dramatic Half-Face" illustration in IT. Have you received any responses on this? I found this similar device used in a 1991 magazine about testing beauty products. . . http://bit.ly/d2qZka . . .But I'm really interested in how the AB was using it under situationist critique.

It is such a shame that there has not been any updates for such a long time - I delve here every week or so in anticipation, but nothing. I will still be here, as will many others, waiting patiently.

Fascinating article. Gosh how formal and 'stiff' (excuse the pun) tv was back then. I remember watching Miss World with my Dad (and the Black and white Minstrels with my Mum) back then. As for LondonLee's comment about still showing beauty contests in the U.S. It's no so surprising when you think they still have the death penalty in many parts of the country - and 'all you can eat' competitions. Give them a few years to catch up...

I agree with wolstan dixie that the angry brigade had absolutely no idea what they wanted. If you can't communicate what you want clearly you don't deserve to be heard. I think the angry brigade was angry idiots.

I remember seeing a cartoon (it may have been in Private Eye) from the early eighties of dinner party of a group of middle-aged people, the men balding and wearing cardigans, the women wearing twin-sets. The caption was something like 'I do so enjoy these Angry Brigade re-unions'. Seeing how some of them went on the become establishment fixtures, that wasn't too far out.

The problem with the Angry Brigade was that it was not at all clear what they actually WANTED.
