from. The Mirror headline which is mentioned ‘Crook, Crank or Joker’ could be a co-incidence, However.
Oliver Reed and Michael Crawford want to plan a ‘grand gesture’, At one point they stand in front of the Wellington portrait but Michael Crawford says “It’s been done”. They decide on the Crown Jewels and at a dinner party the same evening the question of theft (regarding another prank) comes up, William Mervyn says “You can’t be charged with theft unless you intend to permanently deprive”. Very similar words to Kempton Bunton’s defence. It is available on you tube, part 2 of 10.
